With influences including Jimi Hendrix, Wu-Tang Clan and Kanye West, Genesis Owusu is a supremely talented teenage hip-hop artist on the come up. He’s been showcasing his unique and evolving style since bursting onto the Australian music scene as a 16-year-old in 2015 when he was a top five finalist in the Triple J Unearthed High competition and went on to be the station’s feature artist in early 2017.
Born in Ghana but raised in Canberra, the rapper has already performed explosive live sets at Groovin’ The Moo, Spilt Milk and St. Jerome’s Laneway. He creates laid back, jazz-infused-jams, and experimental genre-bending hardcore hip-hop, as heard in his debut 2017 release, “CARDRIVE EP”. Owusu’s reputation is continually growing, with nods from VICE, i-D Magazine, Oyster Magazine, FBi Radio and more, and a collaboration with members of the Grammy-nominated band Hiatus Kaiyote.
